Hilltop Decorators – Terms & Conditions
Payment Terms
All work must be paid in full on the day of completion. If payment is not received, a £200 late payment fee will be added to the final invoice and will continue to accrue every 30 days until the balance is paid in full.
Disclaimer
All work will be carried out in a professional manner to normally accepted industry standards.
Hilltop Decorators is not responsible for delays or issues caused by circumstances outside of our control, including (but not limited to) acts of God, material shortages, work stoppages, civil unrest, theft, or vandalism.
Mould and fungus are natural occurrences and cannot be permanently prevented by decorating work. We accept no liability for the recurrence or growth of mould or fungus after completion.
Access to Property
A) The customer agrees to provide access to the property between 8:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday, and where required, weekends.
If access is not available for any reason, the customer agrees to cover costs incurred, including travel and lost time, at a rate of £25 per man hour per person and £1 per mile per vehicle.
Customer Responsibilities
B) The customer is responsible for removing or protecting personal belongings and small items from work areas before work begins (excluding large furniture such as sofas or beds).
Any items left in work areas may be moved by Hilltop Decorators, and a charge of £25 per hour per person will apply. We accept no liability for damage to items not removed or adequately protected.
For safety and insurance reasons, no children, pets, or unauthorised persons should enter the work area during ongoing works unless agreed in advance.
If other trades or individuals interfere with the scheduled works, Hilltop Decorators is not liable for delays or damage caused by third parties.
Any damage caused by third parties will be charged at £25 per hour per person to rectify.
Cancellations
C) The customer may cancel this contract within 7 days of the agreed start date.
A cancellation form must be completed. Deposits will be refunded within 10 business days, minus 10% of the total contract value if cancellation is made without the required notice.
Changes & Delays
D) Any changes to the agreed work must be confirmed in writing and signed by both parties.
Additional work will incur extra charges and must be approved before proceeding.
If Hilltop Decorators attends site but is unable to work due to circumstances outside our control, a minimum charge of £250 per day will apply.
Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice will also incur a £250 charge.
Promotion & Photography
E) Hilltop Decorators may display signage during works and use photographs of completed or ongoing projects for advertising and marketing purposes unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Inspection of Work
F) Upon completion, the customer agrees to inspect all work with the contractor. Any defects must be reported at this time under normal lighting conditions and viewing standards.
Materials & Standards
G & H) All materials will be applied in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. All preparation and workmanship will meet or exceed standard industry practices.
Colour Disclaimer
I) Once paint has been mixed and applied, no refunds will be issued based on colour dissatisfaction. Customers are responsible for approving colour choice prior to application. Colour variations of up to 10% may occur between samples and finished paint.
Scaffolding
J) If scaffolding is required, arrangements will be made with a third-party supplier. Any issues, payments, or damages relating to scaffolding are the responsibility of the customer and scaffolding company.
Floor Protection
K) While reasonable care is taken, Hilltop Decorators is not responsible for incidental paint transfer outside of protected work areas if caused by third parties or misuse of the workspace.
Wallpaper Removal
L) If wallpaper removal requires radiator removal, this must be carried out by a qualified plumber arranged by the customer. We are not responsible for leaks or plumbing issues.
Warranty
M) Hilltop Decorators provides a 2-year workmanship warranty on labour.
Material warranties are provided by manufacturers. Our liability is limited to the value of the work completed.
We are not responsible for failures caused by underlying surfaces, previous coatings, or structural issues.
Failure to comply with payment terms voids all warranties.
